Organic forms appear to float on paper, wood or canvas surfaces in the new work by Eleanor Kotlarik Wang. They are airy, free and unattached to any sense of space or time. Layers of silkscreen images combined with paint applications are sanded, scratched through, then resurfaced in various combinations of subtractive and additive painterly approaches. The usage of gold and light in some of the works creates an other-worldly sensibility suggesting a more mysterious and intangible environment. In other works, more recognizable natural forms appear to float through ambiguous surroundings. The idea of change and impermanence is an underlying theme in all these pieces.
