Return to Beijing
This August I returned to Bethel Foster Home to coordinate and run a creative art camp for the kids. With the help of dear old friends (Sibylla, Josie, and Shalu) and many new volunteers, we as a team, were able to create new art which is featured in the 3rd Bethel Calendar. No matter how far we go, our hearts stay connected with the kids. We are growing in life spirit together.

Red Gate Gallery in Beijing, China
Studio Art Residency in January and February with Red Gate Gallery in Beijing, China. Eleanor participated in a group exhibit with fellow international resident artists of Red Gate Gallery and Imagine Gallery. Eleanor continued volunteer work teaching English as well as art activities with Bethel, China, a school for visually impaired orphans in China. From the fun and labor of the projects, the 2nd edition of the Bethel calendar went to press with incredible success. IKEA was one of the major sponsors of the projects.
In December and August, the artist ‘s work was shown in group exhibits at Studio Gallery in Washington, DC. In her home base, Eleanor continues her explorations. Much of her new work is based on her experiences and observations living in China. The search for identity, language and meaning in a foreign, complex, global living environment is the theme in many of her new works.

VYKRUCAJ - Twirl Around
I grew up surrounded by folk art traditions from Slovakia. I particularly admire the richness of the patterns and colors of the textiles and cermaics which reflect the creativity and vitality of the people. This series of paintings explores those patterns and rhythms that permeated the life and traditions of my forefathers and which have active traces in the culture of Slovakia today. While the works emerge from Old World traditions, they are contemporary and respond to the basic joys of life in any age.
